There are also plenty of parks to explore in the city of Greenville. Nearby the Oak Grove Lake Park offers residents a stocked fishing lake, a .8 mile trail for walking, jogging. and biking.

Nearby, the Roper Mountain Science Center offers visitors of all ages a variety of opportunities to explore the various wonders of the world in the butterfly garden, living history farm, planetarium, and Harrison Hall of Natural Sciences. According to data gathered in 2012, the population of Greenville County is around 60,709, up 8.4 percent from 2000.

As of July 2013, unemployment in Greenville was at 6.4 percent and has been declining since 2009. This is a relatively low unemployment rate compared to the state’s overall unemployment rate, which is 8.1 percent. The most common industries in Greenville include manufacturing, retail trade, and construction.

Schools, Health, and Transportation

The Claremont community is located within the Greenville County School District. Two of the nearby schools include the Beck Academy Middle School and the J.L. Mann High School. Beck Academy Middle School was the first public school in South Carolina to be named as an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program school in 2000. It employs 64 teachers in order to educate its 1,090 students. The J.L. Mann High School places an emphasis on developing technology skills and employs 78 teachers in order to educate its 1,649 students. Private schools in close proximity to Claremont include Southside Christian School and Shannon Forest Christian School.

There are a number of hospitals in the Greenville area that offer medical services to the residents of Claremont. These include Greenville Memorial Hospital, Greer Memorial Hospital, and Hillcrest Memorial Hospital in Simpsonville, all of which offer emergency care services.

The Department of Transportation in Greenville has set up the Greenlink Transit bus line, which provides public transportation to 11 fixed routes all around Greenville County. Domestic and international air travel for the region is available at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport.
